Our finance minister( I would like to call him our inflation minister) forecasts inflation to be 5% by coming Fiscal.
Before that, I guess our central ministers are more like our Social Studies teachers back in school. Yes, she was the one who was holding all the strings together.
Social teacher is an English miss when the real one is absent, she also plays the role of a class teacher and when the situation demands she ends up teaching reproductive system of frogs in biology. No offense dear social teachers. I promise that this was totally a part of being there, learnt that - from a Social teacher.
So are our ministers. One political year, Mr.X is a sports minister, if the political situation calls for a by election, he is now the finance minister and by the next elections Mr.X is the communications minister.
WTH...do they have mutual career experts working on you divirsified portfolio sort of career or something?
Recently China had their ID celebrations. Least said a feast to the eyes.
Some one asked: OMG look at the way they are growing. What do you think, which country is better? India or China?
I: thought-> puhleez....for starters I was in Singapore for 2 years(its not a chinki land) I am not an expert on Chindian issues. Having a chinese room mate does not mean we sit together and speak about the economy of china. I do not understand mandarin.
I:said->India
Some one said: Ey...Whaaat are you taaaking??? China is fantabulous....

Well..upon retrospection China is outgrowing India. We might be happy with the petty achievements this fiscal as to how we got more car manufacturers setting up plants in India, be it beating China on marginal margins.
But are we really considering the gaps?
Our budget, whatever said and done, is only raising the infrastructure index.
In the long run, unless we bridge the gap that we widened between the rural and urban areas, we are ought to be happy on the petty margins.
China for starters has an internal passport system. I totally appreciate Nandan jee for giving up the top shot job with a top shot bank balance to go fight it in the union. But how long yaar???
I hope it does not take as long as a time to read your book. I had to verify wether I was reading a statistics book.
We are not bent to prove Gandhiji wrong. REAL INDIA IS IN VILLAGES.
With more of irritation and lack of narration I end here
That is why, we should not have ministers who replicate social teachers back in schoolVirtual Epiphanyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16951654508280736953noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2754326177832297723.post-4568944750097425942009-09-21T22:37:00.000-07:002009-09-21T22:48:39.293-07:00A thousand splendid sunsA man's heart is a wretched wretched thing, Mariam. not but careoflate there have been a lot of things going on in my life(but this post is not related to whats going on)
the beauty of going through razor sharp pain lies in how you over come it cause at the end of the day even if it's easier said than done.....happyness of sadness is to be pursued
life moves on....by erasing the smile of yours due to not having that special something which can make u smile, smile and let people near and dear to you smile rather than craving for that something which may or may not be yours
at the end of the day its destiny
never complain about lying in anticipation cause only lying there teaches you what you have not pursued
pain is inevitable
comes in many shapes and forms, tangible and intangible
and as some smart ass said suffering is optional
things you want appear distant and may not come back and in the process things not so distant are distanced
Craving is a horrible thing but caring rocks...Care and leave it...if it wants it will come back, else u will not be worriedabout how u did not care for it
lol...i cant imagine this philosophical post on my blog
and yea all the senior citizens in been thinking about how random events change our life.
How we meet people at random, fall in love at random, take decisions at random and what we least understand when we do things at random is that this randomness is going to change our life FOREVER and again
if its for good - the best
if its for bad - the worse

Someone I know quoted one evening in awe - " I wonder how men leave affectionate wives for beautiful ones"
That coming from a fairer sex and me being a woman I could not help but jibe with that
It's not untill rececently I saw the following ad

(I contradict myself in the coming lines, which I phrase as "growing up" till I get myself enlightened about this world)
Now when you look into this topic, Saif leaves his love for a random Kareena.
Some people (me included) call it destiny but most of us (i'd call us good hearted cuz I include myself in the most) would feel sad for the butterfly girl (for 2 reasons:
1.The effort was totally made by saif
2.It was Saif who left the girl after wooing her
3.The mutual bond shared for such a long time, ruptured, leaving the girl hurt)

There are this other set of people, calling spending all their life with the girl or rather one girl - stupidity.
In that case, Saif should not have come back to this girl, which in turn turned his destiny to meet kareena.
Now, thats a random event. It's so sad to see a mutual love so far broken.(Now, this is what I call ..nothing hurts like randomness(refer to my previous post))
For some might think:Is it called randomness? Or is it d'uh-screw-that-gal--beauty-is-brains?

And One reason I love Nassim Nicholas Taleb is for that we take forgranted of such events NOT happening. But again what is the meaning of a soulmate?
There are set of us who bend ourselves to the conventions and lead a happy Indian life.
There are another of us, non confirmists who question the traditions and wait for their soulmate and live happily ever after if they find them and find mutual happiness.
There are set of these extremist non confirmists who question the concept of soulmates all through their life in the process hurt people(and for sad...hurt souls who love them beyond love). They question mutual happiness after a while. Saif in this ad belongs to this category.

A lot of us do not know what we want to do in life.
1.Some do cause they want to do.
2.Some do cause they have to do.
3.Some do for the sake of doing.
4.Some do NOT do cause they do not know what to do.
Except the first and last the rest all do not understand randomness. Even if they do, they play around it(even if we do not want to play around it...and we term it by the four letter word Fate). They ignore outliers.
Except the first, the rest all become rebellious after some time.
( Am talking from a pure human approach, not the radical events which are shaking and questioning our social and economic dynamics).

Over and all, a sulky, loathsome ad which makes me puke. Sorry Mr.Sunil Bharti Mittal. (No, I do not blame the ad agency even if they are at a huge fault here)Virtual Epiphanyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16951654508280736953noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2754326177832297723.post-86095718672182506042009-08-27T04:24:00.000-07:002009-08-28T09:17:36.818-07:00" I tell you out of experience"The probability of something good happening is 0.5 and same with bad..
Probability is highly associated with the term uncertainty which at the end of the day is a gamble. As far as its left to aggressive and stubborn souls its fine but sometimes its happy to remain uncertain even if the payoff is same as being certain.
What lures rather itches the human mind is the positive consequence of moving from uncertainity to certaininty.
Management schools walls reverbrate with the phrase "my dear students, change is constant"
The external environment keeps changing. demanding the rules of the game to be changed.
One lesson that they do not teach you at schools is that people change.
Core might be the same..good or bad....but still
people change, people move on, people are manipulative, people are not to be forgranted to remain the same, people say things they do not mean.
Tommorow is not what today is like....at the end of the day, its us people who change the rules affecting the environment by and large and one industry which has adopted this concept beautifuly is the film industry.
In a movie there is a protagonist....in MBA there is no protagonist...and even if they call some one a protagonist, he is one who is struggling to come to a decision from a situation, which in turn is created by the real protagonist. If the sub prime crises has to be made into a movie, it surely will be rotated around the person whose selfish idea bought the whole world crashing down.
As Galileo Galilei quoted - nothing can be taught to the human mind, everything has to be learnt and according to me it surely has to be the hard way.
A decision good or bad taken, has to walked every step sweet or otherwise and learnt.
Maybe that is why every one cherishes school and college life till death.
Once education is imparted, and once you step out of college gates everything in life has to be learnt.
Be it meeting people, going to places, getting into relationships(love and hate), earning money, nothing is taught.
May be that is why we say "i tell you out of experience" rather than "i tell you out of education".
Setting one's own rules, puts themselves to gamble, either in the short term or long term.
In real life, people are picked to be used, are used up and thrown.
It's upto us if we are picked in a positive sense or
It's upto us how long we choose to carry on the burden of gamble like a burning cauldron on our hearts
AND
never ever totally believe in a random event, cause nothing hurts like randomness...(when the event backfires)Virtual Epiphanyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16951654508280736953noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2754326177832297723.post-76183891582701142792009-08-24T05:08:00.000-07:002009-08-24T05:10:25.414-07:00TierdTotally sick of the apply, apply and no reply phase of lifeVirtual Epiphanyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16951654508280736953noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2754326177832297723.post-72478039291969167712009-07-23T21:45:00.000-07:002009-07-23T21:46:19.412-07:00One phase of lifeSometimes, when you look deep into life, you realise that life really has no answers. We attach answers. We have been doing that for quite some time and we do it without any second thoughts till the last breath because we think that is the only way we do it.
At times, life can be confusing. You can be 25,30,35,40….,70 or above and still do not know what to do with life. Famous (not successful) are those who know what to do with their life.
Caught in the intricacies of life, sometimes I wish people can take ‘I do not know’ for a genuine answer, because going with the flow can be really painful after a while rather than standing out of the crowd and looking confused and bemused.Virtual Epiphanyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16951654508280736953noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2754326177832297723.post-68080358995558633112009-06-25T02:45:00.000-07:002009-06-25T03:31:41.858-07:002007 - 2009

Yeah, yeah another new year

Oh yayyy IBS :D

Oh crap, waitlistd

Yay...Singapore

Oh gosh bloody beautiful

Spend spend spend

Shit, bloody weekends

Yayy Sunday evening...sleep time....

Good morning Monday evening

Oh god, PDAs suck

Oh god, Chinese food rocks

Oh man, rebonding

Oh god, assignments

Case studies????What on earth are they?

Oh crap living in a PG sucks

Oh yayy Indiyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa trip

Oh yay, biryani

Oh yay, pani puri

Oh yay, road side noodles

Oh shit, stomach upset

Oh shit, flight back

Oh shit, I miss India

Oh shit, I hate the silence

Oh yyayy Sale

Yayy I love Singapore again

Oh crap, exams

Oh shit my roomie snores

God, am never ever going to share my room again

Oh yayy an open book exam:D:D:D:D:D:D:D, the one who thought of this concept is GOD

Oh crap, I cant find the answers anywhere in this book

Oh crap, why don't hard copies have a CTRL F. Like they say good manner starts from the family,I guess Loo manners also start from the family.
In India,The child is asked to go to the loo quietly without asking for any kind of permission.
Generally parents are quite keen about the movements of the kids and thus ask the kid where she/he is going and if they find out its loo, the child is asked to just shut up and go.
I wonder why our government considers going to the Loo, such a taboo.
Cause every time you need to leave the house, you have to make sure that you empty your bladder. Its a house thingly only. Do it in your house only you know.
And men enjoy a different kind of freedom in loo manners.
They twist the definition of loo a little and remove the two terms: closed space.
They are not quite that bad. They do not make it open, they remove three walls of a closed space. Here, sometimes government takes initiative and sends a guy to paint “do not p*** here” on the wall. That guy needs to be paid the highest compensation in Indian history for the daredevil job.Due to continuous flow on the wall, the word Not disappears after a while, which stimultes an urge when read.
Now,now, even if you find a loo somewhere :
1. there are inbuilt inhibitions in the heart which keep sending stimulus to the brain like: a little more time, you are going home
2. there are no tissue papers. cut the cost of a tissue paper, employ a watch man /watch woman who wants to know wether you are going to p***/s*** inside those four walls (as if she is conducting a survey of indian p***/s*** habits and their timings) and charges a little more than usual to the former biological reaction and a little exhorbitant for the latter. Now you might wonder, how on earth the watch man/woman gets to know what happens inside the four walls. He/She keeps a note of time and takes no inhibitions in asking if you were really P***/S*** ing inside. Now, now, now p***/s*** ing is NOT for free my dear. The tax you pay is not counted for your p*** and s***
3. Ofcourse, the stink. The watch man/woman outside is someone sitting there and making free money. They are not supposed to clean the loo. Upon asked, you might be asked to cleanit yourself in return. There are no exhaust fans. There is this circular hole on the upper portion of the wall which leaves you wondering, if the whole itself functions as a circulator of air(inner to out and out to inner) That ways you can spot or rather smell a public loo from distance
4. There are no flushes. If you strongly believe in the phrase"the one who came last made the loo dirty" you will end up cleaning a lot of people's biological waste
5. There is not a single mirror any where. It's probably lying on the walls of the watch man's/watch woman's home.
6. There is no hand dryer. You are supposed to rub your hands on the side of your thighs. Hell yea...thats why you are wearing clothes.
7. There is no light. The exhaust hole radiates a beam of light. What do you need light for????? Finish you work and be happy
8. Loo is the place for people to be creative. They bring out the best of erotic fiction. DO NOT GO TO THE PUBLIC LOO IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN WITH YOU, else you might just have to end up giving a lecture on the laws of nature or end up creating a creative sci -fi
AND FINALLY....if you encounter any of the above seven, you are one lucky soul cause the watchman/woman usually lock the loo and misplace the key on Day 1 of their work or the inaugral of the loo (whichever is the earliest)and are snoring at their homeVirtual Epiphanyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16951654508280736953noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2754326177832297723.post-35200081374087075982009-01-24T22:38:00.000-08:002009-01-24T22:39:14.260-08:00pleasant:)Virtual Epiphanyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16951654508280736953noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2754326177832297723.post-60074718804390335502009-01-16T00:13:00.000-08:002009-01-16T00:22:02.462-08:00one more phase of lifei feel so heavy, so depressed, so out of place
i am angry and lonely
i am stranded alone on an island
none to talk to, none to call, none to see
days are filled with nothing but dark and stinky shadows of loneliness
dreams keep me going
but now i really wonder: How long?
Patience levels are breaking
Tolerance levels are declining
Can I keep going? or is this the end of me?Virtual Epiphanyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16951654508280736953noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2754326177832297723.post-18324136977509493722008-11-18T10:49:00.001-08:002008-11-18T11:02:13.659-08:00talking about languagescontrary to my previous post..i've been very pissed with the current country of my residence for quite some time, but nevertheless......... due to the habit of sleepin early in the morning and getting up late in the noon (no no....please...this is a prettttttty normal cycle of a post graduate student living abroad where orkut and facebook updates run in his or her blood) i was introduced to the world of singapore cinema ( more about it later ) and a few thoughts mingled in my mind.
The four national languages of singapore are chinese, malay, tamil and english. Yea, even i thought that there SHOULD be a Singaporish, but am not a PR or a Citizen to make an amendment and even sitting down and formulating a new language would be tough for the government. But still mr.president i still think u should go ahead and formulate a new language. cause there are instructions and rules all over the country. even wikipedia when searched for singapore shows you a danger board in four languages. every announcemnt is made in four languges.imagine the amount of cost cutting if there is a common language. but yea.. for people to understand it should be a mix of english and chinese and malay and tamil. but if its a mix of all those, a chinese cant understand malay, a malay cant understand tamil and hence all the permutations and combinations.
forget that.
chinese is of many differet dialects and one kind of chinese dialect guy cant understand the other chinese guy's dialect.
even the ads go:
a common room for sharing
chinese female preffered
traditional chinese speaking preffered
modern chinese speaking dont apply.
exactly, for us foriegners all of them look and sound the same and these guys think all indians look alike and all indians are south indians. one of my frnz (a north indian)was even asked if she was a south indian and since she did not want to be seggregated on a direction basis replied she was an indian and is questioned back as to why her nationality is an indian.
helooo singapore...there are hell lot of varied languages in india may be thats why indian govt was thinking logically for once and thus we have a common national language or imagine a sign board like

in india.
by the time you figure out where your languge is you may no longer exist to read it:P

Virtual Epiphanyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16951654508280736953noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2754326177832297723.post-73802172967614463412008-10-22T07:33:00.000-07:002008-10-22T08:02:18.969-07:00of all things(mom's food, dad's egg curry, aura of hyderabad etc), I miss the simple pat of parents on the back which says it all....which when verbalized translates as : it's fine. u will get through the tough phases in life and u r managing it well.
I need it more in this foriegn country. Where every person is waiting to blame the other. Where people scream at you for doing what you are doing, that too when they are walking in the same shoes and trudging the same path. When people talk in a pitch which is decibels higher than a factory's siren (a siren would put itself to shame) outside your room and wake u up when u are sleeping after a long tyring day(to add to it those who do not live where i do) . When a foodie gets nothing veg and remotely edible stuff to eat. To add it aviation industries screw the prices 3 times higher to see loved ones back home. Am tierd acting like nothing happened.

I need a break, before i break apart.

ps:i have been restraining myself from posting anything negative but people around me are nothing but negative, insensitve whose ultimate soul is to put you down when you are already put down by the current financial crisis and many more complicated things. every remotely decent human being on this planet is trying to achieve something. it might take him there or throw him in trash. all that matters is a small word of apreciation.Virtual Epiphanyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16951654508280736953noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2754326177832297723.post-70305931518613732752008-09-15T08:23:00.000-07:002008-09-15T08:41:06.700-07:00GONE WITH THE 50BILLION - Bulls turned Bears3:00am:Sipping hot Milo, ensconced in my rug, falling for the charm of Rhett butler as he intensly woos katie o hara in the classic Gone with the wind little did I know that the endless phone calls and aprehensions among top management at wall street would result in falling of the empires built over a century and some others being sold for 50 billion dollars.September 15th would surely be remembered as a doomsday in wall street's history as I lay queasy at the thought of my dream company and a terrific brand for years sells itself and henceforth can no longer be THE MERRILL LYNCH.

Virtual Epiphanyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16951654508280736953noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2754326177832297723.post-36309086763023957322008-08-18T05:56:00.000-07:002008-08-18T06:30:15.582-07:00Have been out of the Bloging world for quite some time.
starting off again..highly inspired by this friend from schools post..here i go:
Am highly surprised by the negative connotation attached to the word MISTAKE.
Competition and Globalization has taken its toll. Right from childhood to death you are forced not to make a mistake. As a child you are asked not to play in the mud, As a student you are warned of a punishment in case you commit a mistake. As a boyfriend/girlfriend looking around when a Beautiful woman/handsome man passes by is a mistake. In how many boardrooms do you hear " its OKAY to make a mistake".CEOs run around the office yelling: I dont want a mistake
How do we define Mistake? Is Mistake not following the T n Cs or stepping out and doing something NOT prescribed in the guidelines? Why is mistake so negatively hyped? The fear of making a mistake has a good chance of stopping many of us out here from achieving our childhood dreams.Mistakes and Creativity have this very thin line between them. The fear of making a mistake is making some one guilty and hinders from being Creative.
Nonetheless its time to understand that a mistake can lead to misery or innovation....so does Success..it all depends on the way we initially accept them but at the end of the day ITS PRETTY OKAY TO MAKE A MISTAKE.Virtual Epiphanyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16951654508280736953noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2754326177832297723.post-14802953478225046402008-06-25T11:08:00.000-07:002008-06-25T11:30:40.759-07:00how long will it continue in India?Even a third grade kid at school, when counter questioned says " Look mister, India is a democratic country, we have freedom to talk, speak, shout, shit and bullshit"
How free is India ( or rather Indians) in expressing their thoughts, or putting forth worthwhile actions?
A press editor is arrested near midnight in his office for a reason whom every one thinks is silly(i do not support any of the parties involved, neither the newspaper)
Aftermath: journalists and writers and all other people related to any kind of media carry out rallies and rasta rokos through the state.
1. Determined to take life as it comes, I made my way to the exit and Henceforth started to experience, a bed of roses.
Singapore - 4 hours from Hyderabad is a country where
- the maid earns more than your pocketmoney back in India in just an Hour.
- you have to walk, sweat, walk, sweat, walk, sweat, walk, sweat to reach the bus stop
- you take a cab and pay nearly 15 to 40 times the public transport charge
- even TATA's bank balance aint enough to pay a normal fine
- Pig is considered a soup and amphibians are considered Food
- Every non veg dish has a vegetarian substitute
- bubles are in a Tea
- greenery, dustbins, traffic signals, ATMs are everywhere
- roads are smooth as silk
- Snails win the race competing with buses
- you pay 120INR per minute to call India if you are not using a calling card
- you fall out of options to eat esp if you are not cooking
- you have a Q (surprising if you are an Indian)
- you have state of art libraries
- one tomato costs you 10INR
and where you have really cute people adding LA to every sentence
Well I can go On and On, but I got to stop somewhere
All in All Singapore is a sexy city/capital/country/island.
Like a baby fresh from a mother's womb is what the country looks like when it rains
state of art infrastructure, excellent roads, security systems in place
MIND BLOWING airports, discos, condominiums, HDBs with all facilities, Shopping malls, food courts, Great Singapore Sale, island wide Wireless connection, upcoming casinos, convention centres, expo, business districts, regular public transportation, cleanest of toilets, non intermittent power supply, pleasant beaches, diving, rafting, bungee jumping............... Singapore has it all
being an island utilising the space in the most effecient way without choking people's lives
rags to riches is the phrase
the country's grown and became a mature market
For once you have goosebumps seeing how much the government is doing to keep the citizens happy
Am totally in love with the city and will always love it...neva change, mwah
Au RevoirVirtual Epiphanyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16951654508280736953noreply@blogger.com1
